The 17-year-old hit a thunderous strike against the Reds to help Gareth Taylor’s side open up a nine-point lead at the top of the table with six fixtures remaining.
Liverpool have two games in hand, but the crucial victory on Mersyside means City’s fate is in our own hands and Edozie says the hard fought win has given the youngsters confidence they can get the job done.
“I’m delighted,” he said. “It was a big game because if they won their two games in hand they would have been level on points with us, so it’s nice to put nine points between us and them.
“We’re very confident now. Going into this game we were confident we could put the nine points between us and now we have it’s a big step towards winning the league.
“We’re looking forward to playing Blackburn next weekend now.”
City were made to work hard for the three points in tough conditions at a windy Liverpool Academy.
It’s been a recurring theme of recent weeks, in which the Taylor’s youngsters have overcome difficult tests against Reading and Fulham to reach the final of the U18 Premier League Cup and the last eight of the FA Youth Cup.
But, buoyed by a 13-match unbeaten run which stretches back to November and with a potential treble on the horizon, Edozie says confidence is sky high amongst the City squad.
“We’re all so excited,” he added.
“We just want to be playing all the time because the morale is so high. We think we can do anything this season.
“Especially because we’re in all three competitions, we feel like no one can stop us at the moment. It’s exciting.”
