We take a look at the connections between the two clubs ahead of Sunday's final game of the Premier League season...

Age Hareide

Norwegian international defender Age Hareide was brought to City from Molde by John Bond in 1981 and went on to make 25 appearances at Maine Road.

Hareide was deemed surplus to requirements after a solitary season in Manchester, leaving to join Norwich City in 1982 where he spent two years, playing 40 times for the East Anglian side.

He has since had a successful managerial career and replaced Uwe Rosler as boss of Viking in 2009.

Kevin Reeves

After starting his career as an apprentice at AFC Bournemouth, Kevin Reeves signed for John Bond’s Norwich in 1977, turning out 133 times for the Carrow Road side.

Bond became manager at City in 1980 and one of his first acts at Maine Road was to bring Reeves up north with him, earning Norwich their first £1m+ transfer fee.

Reeves amassed more than 150 appearances for City in his three years at the club, scoring 39 goals before following Bond to Burnley.

Justin Fashanu

Talented striker Justin Fashanu began his career at Norwich, making his name in the South East by graduating from the youth academy to make 90 league appearances, scoring 35 goals.

With his reputation on the rise, Fashanu joined Brian Clough’s all-conquering Nottingham Forest in 1981 but failed to make an impact, paving the way for a tumultuous eight years where Justin represented five clubs before signing for City in 1989.

He lasted barely a month at City and made only two First Division appearances.

John Bond

A recurring name throughout lists of connections between the two clubs is John Bond, who was in charge of both City and Norwich during a glittering 30-year managerial career.

He caught City’s eye by plotting Norwich’s promotion back to the top flight and a League Cup final in 1975, before successfully keeping them in the top division despite their tight budget.

Bond galvanised a flailing City side when he took over in 1980, leading them to the classic 1981 FA Cup final again Spurs in his first season in charge.

Javier Garrido

Spanish left-back Javier Garrido was snapped up by Sven Goran Eriksson in the summer of 2007 and was part of the team that made City’s best-ever Premier League start, with four wins and four draws in their opening eight games.

David Silva’s decision to join City was said to be heavily influenced by the words of Garrido, although Javier swapped clubs with Lazio’s Aleksandar Kolarov shortly after his former Spain u21s teammate arrived.

Garrido signed for Norwich City on a season-long loan at the start of this season and has been a key component in Chris Hughton’s defence since, signing on a full-time basis this week.
