Inspired by classic Manchester City designs of the past, the club’s new home shirt kit blends timeless colours and detailing with Nike Football performance innovation to unite the club’s past and future with distinctive and sophisticated Mancunian style.

The shirt is in the club’s iconic sky blue with a contemporary, slim white polo neck collar finished with concealed buttons beneath the placket.

This detail is a strong visual reference to Manchester’s take on casual wear - structured yet laidback, and heavily influenced by the aesthetics synonymous with the city’s legendary music and fashion scenes.

The shirt also features a white stripe running down each flank, which continues in light blue down the sides of the traditional pure white shorts.

The new home socks are light blue with a white band at the top, and feature a tonal performance stripe of small chevrons on the back of the calf.

This season, the home kit was launched with the help of those who truly make the club what it is - the City fans themselves.

Through the Nike Football App, an exclusive selection of Blues, including City members - Cityzens - were given the opportunity to attend the City Football Academy, be the first to see the new design and hear about the insights that went into the creation of the kit.

Getting exclusive, behind-the-scenes access and time with the players at the shoot, fans took photos with their team, and became part of the launch, as the athletes first shared the resulting images directly with those very fans via social media.

The new Manchester City home kit is available buy from mcfc.co.uk/shop and in store from July 10.

While this new kit represents a proud symbol of the club, it offers players the very latest in Nike performance innovation, fabric technology, moisture management and environmental sustainability.

NIKE DRI-FIT TECHNOLOGY

Nike Dri-FIT technology draws sweat away from the body to the exterior of the shirts and shorts where it quickly evaporates. This allows players to perform at their best by remaining cooler, drier and more comfortable.

The laser-cut ventilation holes and mesh panels in key areas of the kit are designed to improve performance by increasing air circulation to the players’ bodies and helping regulate their temperatures.

The jersey is crafted using an engineered mesh fabric – this is used in both the shirt’s front and back panels to increase airflow and facilitate enhanced movement.

SUSTAINABLE INNOVATION

Nike places sustainable innovation at the heart of its kits through the use of recycled polyester, delivering unrivalled performance and lower environmental impact.

Each piece of the kit - the shirt, shorts and socks - is constructed with recycled polyester, which is made from recycled plastic bottles that are melted down to produce fine yarn used to create the fabric.

Each kit is made using an average of 18 recycled plastic bottles. Since 2010, Nike has diverted more than 2 billion plastic bottles from landfills into recycled polyester - enough to cover about 3,500 football pitches.

By using recycled polyester, Nike is also reducing the energy consumed in the manufacturing process by up to 30 percent compared to virgin polyester. For more information, visit nikebetterworld.com.
