Though he’s earned five Under-23 caps for his nation and was named in the provisional Copa America squad earlier this year, this will be the first time he’s challenged for the coveted No.1 jersey for the Verde-Amarela.
“I am very happy for been called up by the national team,” said Ederson.
“It’s indeed another achievement in my career and I’ve worked a lot and very hard for this moment.
“I believe Brazil has good options for the goalkeeper position and now I will go, enjoy and give my best when the squad meets up.”
Ederson began his City career with a clean sheet in the 2-0 win at Brighton last weekend and he feels he is settling well into life with the Blues.
He is learning English and also getting advice and help from his team-mates.
Said Ederson: “I am adjusting really well; the language has been a bit of an issue but I am overcoming it. The team welcomed me really well and they’ve been helping me.
“I just have to keep working and giving my best to the team.”
He also adds that he feels the all-South American battle for the No.1 jersey with Claudio Bravo at City can only be of benefit for the Club in the long run, adding: “Does it put me under extra pressure? No, not at all.
“I believe that is in fact very positive for Manchester City, to have two great goalkeepers at their disposal.
“City has a lot to win with that and whoever Pep decides to play, will be able to manage the job well.”
