Pep Guardiola says complacency will not be an issue as Manchester City look to continue a record-breaking season.

City beat Swansea 4-0 at the Liberty Stadium on Wednesday to establish a new Premier League record of 15 wins in a row.

And our 49 points from 17 games means this is the best-ever start to an English top-flight season.

But Guardiola, known for his exacting standards, has refuted suggestions his side could ease up and fall below the standards set so far.

“That is not going to happen,” he said. “We are so demanding for our players.

“We can lose, we can drop points but complacency, never happened in the past, the present or the future.

“Winning 15 games in a row gives us a lot of confidence.

“And if people are happy watching us, that is the best gift.”

David Silva was the architect of City’s win, scoring twice and orchestrating our best attacking moments throughout.

He has now bagged four in his last three matches, including the opener in the win over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Guardiola says his quality has never been in doubt but admits it’s good to see the Spaniard scoring more regularly.

“I’m so happy for David,” he said. “We cannot disguise his quality but in the past he didn’t score too much goals.

“He’s sharp, he’s in an amazing condition.

“Considering we have a lot of games in our legs, a demanding game at Old Trafford three days ago, we were solid, we were serious and we made a good performance.

“You suffer and enjoy, like a manager you see many things.

“When the team play good we are happy. Our feeling - we understand what we want to do.

“We play good inside, outside.”
