Arsenal are the opponents as Pep Guardiola takes charge of his first cup final since he arrived at the Club in July 2016.
We’ve lifted the trophy on four occasions and in recent years, it’s a competition which holds a host of happy of memories for City fans.
And with the latest final looming large, we delve a little deeper into our League Cup history...

First tie
We made our League Cup debut against Stockport County on 18 October 1960 and got off to a winning start, with Denis Law netting a brace and Joe Hayes adding a third without reply.
Biggest win
The 7-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday in third round of the 2014/15 competition is our largest winning margin.
Manuel Pellegrini was in charge that day, with Edin Dzeko and Frank Lampard both netting a brace.
Jesus Navas and Yaya Toure were also on target, while teenager, Jose Angel Pozo scored on his debut.
Highest scoring game
The nine goals shared in the 6-3 victory against Plymouth Argyle in the second leg of the second round in 1988 is a record high for the Blues in this competition.
Wayne Biggins, Paul Moulden, Neil McNab, Paul Lake and Nigel Gleghorn, who got two, were the scorers.
Heaviest loss
City went down 6-0 away at Birmingham in December 1962. The likes of Alan Oakes and Neil Young were in the starting line-up that day.
Most goals
With 18, the great Colin Bell is the Blues’ record League Cup goal scorer.
Most appearances
The man with the second highest number of appearances in Club history, Joe Corrigan, is top of the charts in the League Cup, turning out 52 times in the competition.
First final
We made a winning start in the first of our six finals. Mike Doyle and Glyn Pardoe got the goals in a 2-1 win over West Brom.

Final defeat
Our only defeat in the showpiece game came in 1974, when, after playing 11 games on the way to Wembley, we lost 2-1 to Wolves.
Bell scored the City goal.
Young gun
With a 2-1 win over Newcastle, we celebrated another League Cup win in 1976 and it was quite a day for Peter Barnes, who became the youngest City player to score in a cup final aged 18.
Penalty drama
Our first win via a penalty shoot-out came in 1981 against Stoke City after both legs of the two-legged tie finished 2-0.
City prevailed 9-8 in the shoot-out.

Trivia
