The Belgian midfielder was stretchered off against Crystal Palace on New Year’s Eve after a heavy challenge from Jason Puncheon and appeared to be in severe discomfort as he went down the Selhurst Park tunnel.
But he returned to the starting lineup two days later to deliver a wonderful display in City’s 3-1 win over Marco Silva’s side.
It was the latest in a long line of match-winning performances from De Bruyne and Ederson says City’s medical staff deserve credit for ensuring he was available so soon after his injury.
“When we played against Crystal Palace we saw the hit and we were all a little bit scared because we saw it was a strong challenge,” the Brazilian said.
“The way he left the pitch was a little bit scary but then the following day, we asked him and he told us it was just a hit, so the doctors took care of him and looked after him.
“They deserve all the credit because they helped him to recover really quick and he was with us today and played an amazing game.”

Ederson has enjoyed a fine debut season in English football.
The 23-year-old, who joined from Benfica in the summer, has kept 14 clean sheets in 28 games so far - but it’s his distribution that has garnered the most attention.
City’s style sees them pass the ball from the back, with Ederson often the catalyst for attacks. He demands the ball from his defenders, even in tight spaces, and involves himself in the team’s passing moves.
It’s a high-risk approach that can leave City supporters with shredded nerves but Ederson says it brings high rewards.
“Yeah, as a foreign player when you come here, it can seem a little bit nervous sometimes because of the way we play,” he said.
“But the quality we have helps us a lot in the way we start the build-up and it gives us an advantage later on.
“For me, with all the defenders, it is really calm because we all know our skills of all the team and they always gives me a lot of options for a pass.
“That helps me a lot to start the build-up and then we can create an advantage and go to the attack and create chances on the other goal.”
