City make seven changes from the side that beat Burton Albion 9-0 last week.

Gabriel Jesus retains his place after his four-goal haul against the Brewers and Danilo gets the nod for the left-back role this evening.

The Blues’ bench is possibly one of the strongest in the Club’s history featuring Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne.

Options for Pep

Aguero, De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez on the bench gives Pep Guardiola plenty of attacking options should he need them.

Aguero missed the cup matches against Rotherham and Burton Albion while De Bruyne continues his carefully managed return.

Wolves XI

Blues need three points

Liverpool’s 1-0 win at Brighton means the champions can ill-afford any slip-ups in their pursuit of Jurgen Klopp’s men.

After cutting the Reds’ lead back to four points in the 2-1 win over Liverpool at the start of the year, the gap is back to seven points ahead of tonight’s game.

Spurs lost 1-0 to United on Sunday and a City win would extend the Blues’ lead over the third-placed North Londoners to five points.

Wolves have bite

Make no mistake – this is likely to be one of City’s tougher home games.

Wolves enjoy playing against expansive sides and their record against top six teams bears testament to this.

The Black and Gold have proved a thorn in the side of top six clubs this season, drawing with City and United while they have also beaten Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs – and their last outing was a 2-1 FA Cup win over Liverpool.

If anything, the visitors’ Achilles heel this campaign has been against struggling sides, with defeats to Cardiff, Huddersfield Town and Crystal Palace.

The Blues will look to gain an early foothold in the game as the longer the scores stay level, the more the visitors will grow in confidence.

Stats and milestones

Though considered something of a ‘bogey’ team for the Blues in the 1970s, Wolves haven’t won away to City in their past six visits – a run that stretches back to 1979.

The last two meetings between the teams have ended in draws – at least after 90 minutes. The last meeting back in August ended 1-1, while Wolves held City 0-0 in the Carabao Cup last season, eventually losing 4-1 on penalties to the Blues.

City haven’t lost to a promoted side at home since Reading won 2-0 at the Etihad in 2007 – a run of 34 games.

Wolves have managed just five goals in the first-half of Premier League fixtures this season – the worst record in the top flight.

David Silva will make his 267th appearance for City this evening, overtaking Joe Hart as the player with most Premier League games.

Goalkeeper Rui Patricio’s last visit to the Etihad was in the colours of Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League – City won 3-2 but were eliminated on away goals and Patricio made a stunning last gasp save from a Joe Hart header!
