City travel to Japan on Thursday, following trips to China and Hong Kong, where Pep Guardiola’s men will face fellow City Football Group side Yokohama F. Marinos in our final pre-season game.

CHECK OUT: 2019 Asia Tour

The Premier League Champions have already faced West Ham and Wolves in the Premier League Asia Trophy and Kitchee in the Jockey Club Kitchee Centre Cup friendly, enduring humid, sweltering conditions throughout the tour.

While it has been challenging for the staff and players, De Bruyne asserts the toil is already reaping fitness rewards.

“Obviously, we’re not used to the humidity and warmth,” he admitted, “but in the summer, it’s always nice when it’s warmer because you lose more fat and you sweat more.

“You get more into the rhythm and obviously, after the holidays, you need more time to prepare.

“The scores aren’t important. It’s all about trying to get your rhythm back and trying to win the games.

“It’s not necessary, all these things. It’s about playing a good game.

“We’ve only had a week or so – we know we’ve got time, so there’s no worry.

“I know when the season kicks off, we’re going to be ready for the season and that’s about it!”

During the tour, City also unveiled our new 2019/20 PUMA third kit.

The strip features a bright gradient kit design of yellow and peach, inspired by the on-field brilliance of our style of football, and has De Bruyne’s seal of approval.

“I don’t mind the bright colours,” he said.

“It’s always nice to have a special third kit because I like the traditional kits but one special one each season makes it nice.

“And if you have a collection at the end of your career, you can see some stuff. It’s always nice to have that.”
