Tomorrow’s fourth Champions’ League Group C assignment in Italy is then followed by Sunday’s eagerly awaited Premier League trip to tackle leaders Liverpool.
But as he spoke at his pre-match press conference before our return fixture with Gian Piero Gasperini’s side, the City boss said his and the players’ focus was solely trained on seeking to record a fourth straight win which would secure a place in the last 16 knock-out stage ahead of our final two group fixtures.
And though City recorded a 5-1 win over the Italians at the Etihad a fortnight ago, the boss said the attack-minded Serie A side would prove formidable opponents and that there would be no danger of complacency from his side.

“It’s a great week for us because we come to Italy and face Atalanta and then face Liverpool on Sunday,” Guardiola declared.
“I want to qualify as soon as possible; I am not thinking about rotating. I go game by game.
“Try to win tomorrow to be already there (in the last 16) one more year - that would be incredible.
“But if not, there is Shakhtar at home and Dinamo Zagreb away and we will see.
“Tomorrow is the most important game. Try to play good, and after the next one.
“Before the first fixture there might have been a danger (of complacency), but they know, they have experienced exactly what it takes to come up against them.
“Now the players know what to expect.The first half was very even, up until 3-1.
“We’ve prepared as best we can, we know it is always tough to come away in Europe.
“Even so, there is still three quarters of the season to go after that.”
The game is being played at Milan’s famed San Siro stadium due to Atalanta’s own ground not meeting UEFA requirements.
The San Siro, plays host to both Inter Milan and AC Milan and Guardiola said he was thrilled at the prospect of seeing City step out to play at one of Europe’s most iconic venues.
“It’s a legendary ground in Italy, in Europe and around the world,” the City manager added. “It is a special place to play football.”
The boss also reiterated his commitment to the underlying attacking philosophy that has underpinned his managerial career.
“It’s still the same as always. I try to attack and defend always, the only difference is based on the attributes of the players I coach,” Pep added.
“Ultimately, I try to entertain the public and play an attacking style of football.”
