Kevin De Bruyne is back in full training and in contention to play at Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The Belgium midfielder has been sidelined since the win at Everton after he suffered a groin injury with 10 minutes of the game to go.

John Stones is also back on the training field after recovering from a rectus femoris strain, as is Benjamin Mendy, although the Frenchman is at the start of his comeback from a hamstring problem and may have to wait for his next opportunity to play.

“Some of them are better,” he said. “Kevin is back and John trained good in the last two days.

Mendy as well. Mendy was a little bit later.”

The boss also shrugged off any concerns about the December and January fixture schedule.

Thursday saw the release of the broadcast selections for the festive period, with City asked to play to matches in less than 48 hours.

City will play at Wolves on December 27 at 7.45pm and then kick off against Sheffield United at the Etihad just two days later at 6pm - but Guardiola says he accepts the situation.

“It is what it is,” Guardiola said. “Every year I’ve been here it is the same.

“Broadcasters are the bosses in these situations.

“I love to play on Boxing Day, winter time when people are off and can enjoy. But we don’t protect the players.

“The system doesn’t protect them. Another day we will have more recovery than others. Maybe broadcasters are more fans of other clubs.

“We have to play. We are going to play.”

Meanwhile, Guardiola sent his best wishes to Oleksandr Zinchenko, who got engaged to his partner during the international break.

The 22-year-old got down on one knee inside the 70,000-capacity Olympic Stadium in Kiev after helping Ukraine beat Portugal 2-1, a result that confirmed their qualification for Euro 2020.

“Congratulations to Aleks and his future wife!” Guardiola said.
