David Silva has set a new Premier League record after clocking up his 200th win for City against Everton.

The Spanish midfielder has reached a double century quicker than anyone else in the competition’s history after coming on as a late substitute for the reigning champions in a hard-fought 3-1 victory at Goodison Park.

Silva tops an illustrious list of 26 players to have hit the 200 mark, but the rate at which he has done so is remarkable.

PLAYER PROFILE: David Silva

He is the only man to reach the milestone in fewer than 300 games, getting there in 289 matches to eclipse John Terry’s previous record of 305 by 16 games.

Silva, who recently made his 400th City appearances, is widely regarded as one of the Club’s greatest ever players and this latest achievement is testament to both his enduring quality and the impact he has had on the Premier League since his arrival in the summer of 2010.

Since his first victory, a 2-0 at Wigan in September of that year, he has been the beating heart of our midfield, establishing himself as one of the finest players we’ve seen on these shores.

Four Premier League title triumphs have helped the 33-year-old set this new record, but he was central to all of them and one of the most influential players in the City sides that have dominated English football during the last decade.

Everyone at Manchester City is delighted for David and congratulates him on this fantastic achievement.
