Many of the media’s headlines derive from comments made by yesterday’s press conference – but seeing as you’ve already read those here – let’s take a look at what else is being said, particularly regarding the Blues’ trip to Everton.
Sunday’s clash sees two old friends go head-to-head in managers Guardiola and Ronald Koeman, and the latter believes anything less than a victory for City would end their title hopes.
“Everybody knows the distance between them and Chelsea,” he told press.
“It is already a lot of points and maybe yes (City are out of it) if they don’t get a result on Sunday.
“Maybe the way he likes to play; the qualities of his players against more physical opponents is difficult.”
He continued: “We try to do everything to get a high position in the table. We know it is not easy to beat the big teams but we are ready.
“We had a big disappointment last week [in the FA Cup against Leicester] but we have lost only one game at home and that was in the last minute in the derby.
“Everybody knows it is difficult to beat Everton at home.
“After the Leicester defeat, it is best to have another opportunity soon after. We know we need to be very good.
“We still have in our minds the game away against Manchester City, and they had a great performance last week against West Ham.
“But if we go face-to-face on Sunday and we play with that aggression and with our pressing, then we can make it very difficult for them.”
In other news, Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel has spoken of his sadness, when he discovered join City in summer.
As Squawka explain: “Gundogan, 26, spent five seasons with BVB and was an integral member of the side throughout, making 157 appearances in all competitions and helping the club win the Bundesliga and German Cup in 2012.”
Quoted in the article, Tuchel revealed: “We sat there with my wife; we did not try to convince him [Gundogan] otherwise because he made a very hard decision and he made his decision.
“In the end, my wife said: ‘You can’t believe how sad my husband is. He will not show you right now; we wish you all the best.’
“And she was right. We wish him all the best. We’re still in touch.”
Finally, speaking of Dortmund, there’s an ‘update’ on the progress of an alleged City transfer target.
Today, it’s provided by the Sun, who report Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang may be allowed to leave the German outfit if the price is right.
According to George Boulton: “Manchester City, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have all shown an interest in the pacey striker who has scored 22 goals in 20 appearances for Dortmund this season.
“The striker is currently tied down until 2020 – meaning it will a lot to tempt Dortmund into cashing in on Aubameyang.
“But despite time left on his contract, Dortmund‘s chief has hinted that he may be set for a move next summer.”
