Let’s start with our captain, who believes the current Manchester City squad are capable of becoming the first side in a decade to retain the Premier League title.
He says there is enough belief and detmerination across the squad to give him hope we can buck the recent trend of defending champions failing to win back-to-back trophies.
In an interview with Stuart Brennan of the Manchester Evening News, Kompany said: “I can only say it’s different from previous years we have won the league.
“I think everyone has been warned enough as well. No team in the last nine seasons has been able to repeat and win the league.
“There’s been so many warnings we have had and every single time we almost have to fight against ourselves and our nature, not to fall in the same trap as the other teams have done, my team included a few years ago.
“But I can see that everyone is training hard. There’s so much competition in the team that we have to anyway.
“You are never guaranteed to win the league, but if we can compete then we will have done something no other team has done in the last nine years.”

Meanwhile, Simon Bajkowski of the Manchester Evening News has written about the potency of Ederson’s long-range passing skills.
The Brazilian became the first City goalkeeper to assist a Premier League goal on Sunday when he played in Sergio Aguero for City’s opener in the 6-1 victory over Huddersfield.
And Bajkowski says his ability to play accurate long balls leaves opposition sides with a tactical conundrum.
“Ederson finally has an assist to his name as a Manchester City player after Sergio Aguero controlled one of his goalkicks against Huddersfield and found the net,” he writes.
“The Brazilian international showed his aptitude in his very first pre-season with the club last summer and also has a Guinness world record for the longest drop-kick.
“Sean Dyche likened the situation to like having Ronald Koeman in net and Ederson‘s passing range does give managers something else to prepare for, but what is significant about the long goal-kick?
“Put simply, it’s a game-changer.
“Because you can’t be offside from a goal kick, any team attacking City enough to force Ederson into possession either has to leave enough men back to be able to defend for the long ball or risk getting caught out.
“If a team wants to press Pep Guardiola‘s side high - a la Liverpool or Tottenham - Ederson‘s ability forces the opponents to stretch the space between defence and attack, creating more space between the lines for City players to get into.”
And, finally, the BBC’s Shamoon Hafez has collated some statistics after the win over Huddersfield.
City managed a remarkable 32 efforts on goal during the game, which isn’t too far short of the most we’ve ever produced in a single top-flight match.
“Manchester City romped to the title last season and smashed a number of records on the way,” Hafez writes.
“And they put on another devastating attacking display in their 6-1 thrashing of Huddersfield on Sunday.
“Pep Guardiola‘s side were given a helping hand by Terriers goalkeeper Ben Hamer on more than one occasion, but managed to find the net six times from their 32 efforts on goal.
“But City’s barrage of more than a shot every three minutes was a long way off their own record of 44 attempts in a game, clocked up against QPR in May 2012. Does that game ring a bell?”
