The pair, who both started in Sunday’s thrilling final-day victory over Chelsea Ladies, will be hoping to keep their places as Nick Cushing’s side bid to secure a very first piece of silverware in their maiden season in the FA Women’s Super League.
Scott, who netted the opening goal in the triumph over Chelsea, is counting down the seconds to the clash at Adams Park and hopes her side can reward their own hard work with a trophy.
“All the girls are really excited and it would be a great achievement to top off our first season in the top flight with some silverware,” she declared. “We want to win things here.
It was always going to be a big ask in our first year - we’ve said that from the start - but we’ve had a good cup run and we’ve got the cup final to look forward to so that’s definitely a platform to build on.
Thursday’s encounter will not be the first time Scott has faced the Gunners in a cup final. Back in 2010, the midfielder completed the full game for Everton Ladies against the North London outfit in the FA Women’s Cup, alongside fellow City star Toni Duggan.
On that day, the Toffees ran out 3-2 winners after extra-time and Scott is eager to secure another positive result against strong, familiar opposition.
“Arsenal are full of experience and that’s why they’re winners,” she reflected. “They win cups every season and they’ve got some quality players in Alex Scott, Casey Stoney, Jordan Nobbs and Kelly Smith - you’ve seen how well she’s done this season after people wrote her off, thinking she wouldn’t be involved as much.
“
Defender Emma Lipman echoed the England international’s sentiments, insisting Cushing’s side need only to maintain their exceptional team spirit to challenge the most successful women’s team in the country.
“We know we can beat Arsenal - we’ve beaten them before,” she asserted. “I just can’t wait to face them again.
“If we can recreate anywhere near the team spirit we showed against Chelsea, we’ll stand every chance of lifting the trophy.
“That moment in the semi-final is something we’ve been focusing on ever since. The question is: can we recreate it?”
Lipman, who joined the club in July 2013 from Leeds United Ladies, has worked tirelessly to become a first-team regular for Cushing’s side and admits the cup final will bear special significance for her - and she is keen to savour every moment.
“Personally, it’s going to be an unbelievable day,” she smiled. “But I don’t want to just play to the occasion - I want to turn up and I’m really looking forward to it.”
Tickets for the Continental Cup final are priced at £5 for adults and £2.50 for children.
A £10 family ticket (two adults and two children) and group bookings are also available.
Ahead of the match, the FA and Continental Tyres will be hosting a FREE Junior Fanzone from 17.45pm with a whole host of activities for children aged 5-15 including: an inflatable speed cage, Batak board, freestyle session, interactive games and much more.
