Manchester City will play Sunderland Ladies in the quarter-final of the Women’s FA Cup.

We have been drawn away and will travel to Mariners Park on Sunday 18 March.

Our spot in the last eight was booked with a 3-1 win away at Birmingham City, which went right to the wire.

In a close fought encounter Nadia Nadim had scored for City, but the hosts hit back before Claire Emslie struck in extra-time to secure the win.

Sunderland had a similarly tense encounter in the fifth round, as they fought back from 2-1 down to beat Aston Villa 3-2 thanks to Keira Ramshaw’s late winner.

The quarter-final tie will be the second time City have faced the Black Cats this season, with a fine performance from Nikita Parris, who grabbed a brace, the catalyst for a 3-0 victory at Mariners Park last month.
