Bonner has been training with the Lionesses ahead of their clash with Germany at a sold-out Wembley Stadium and the centre-back believes her move to City has guided her to the next level.
I’m in one of the best environments I could be in, training every day and playing against the best players we’ve got in the league,” said Bonner.
“I’m constantly being tested and challenged and that’s what I wanted out of the move. Hopefully it can benefit me on an international level.”
City had a tough run of results before the international break, but victory against Birmingham City in the Conti Cup has left Bonner excited for her return to club football.

“We’ve got nearly every single player away so it’s a tough schedule for players in terms of a lot of games and to go straight back into camp for some more important games.
It gives you a different focus but at City we’re in a good place and it was important to get the result and we’ve got another big week when we get back.”
Around 80,000 tickets have been sold for the game against Germany, with the squad travelling out to Czech Republic three days later and Bonner believes this shows huge progression in the Women’s game
“It shows we’re actually getting respected for the work that we’ve done day in and day out and it’s been a long road to get to this occasion on Saturday,” Bonner stated.
“It’s an opportunity for us to go out and do what we do, we work hard every single day and for us moments like these have never been around before, so we’ve got to embrace it and enjoy every minute.”
City are back in FA Women’s Super League action against West Ham on November 17th. Kick-off at the Academy Stadium is 12.30pm and tickets are available.
