Fresh from overcoming Manchester United 1-0 in front of a Women’s Super League record attendance of 31,213 at the Etihad on Saturday, the City squad are now preparing ahead of Thursday’s Champions League round of 32 first leg tie away to Swiss side Lugano.
It’s another key assignment for Nick Cushing’s players, with City aiming to get our European campaign off to a solid start.
And Belgian international forward Wullaert says she and her colleagues are determined to build on the foundations of that memorable United victory.

“We had a couple of days off after Saturday, but now it’s time to move forward and to focus on Lugano,” Wullaert said.
“We’re happy, even if we (know) we need to work.
“However, we can’t start against Lugano as we started against United.
“We know what we have to work on now and we will do it.”
Saturday’s historic derby saw City open the new season with that vital 1-0 win thanks to Caroline Weir’s wonderful second half strike.
However, Wullaert also admitted that City were far from at our best, especially in a first half which saw Ellie Roebuck make a stunning save to deny United taking the lead through Jane Ross.
And she said the squad would focus on ironing out the faults which saw Nick Cushing’s side make a sluggish start to what was the first-ever professional women’s Manchester derby.
“We’ve got three points which was the most important thing,” Wullaert added.
“When you watched the game, the first half was very bad, and we know it.

“We know we can do much better (and) we made a lot of technical faults.
“In the locker room we knew that we had to do much better. That’s what we did in the second period.
“We tried to find more spaces, to keep the ball and put more intensity and then we scored.
“They had many opportunities, but we won 1-0 and we can be happy even if we didn’t play well.”
