Pauline Bremer says her superb goalscoring streak is testament to the positive energy she feels ‘playing for the love of the game’.

Bremer bagged her 14th and 15th goals of a superb campaign and third brace of the season in Sunday’s 4-1 triumph over Tottenham, scoring twice in the first half with two fine finishes.

The German striker has been in red-hot form, showcasing the prolific qualities which caught Nick Cushing’s eye upon her signing in summer 2017 – before she suffered severe injury lay-offs which hampered her first two years at the Club.

Now fully fit and firing on all cylinders, Bremer asserts she is loving every second – and City are reaping the rewards.

“It feels amazing,” she said. “It’s always really good to score, especially to win.

“I’m just enjoying my football. For me, I was going to go out and have fun.

“I was out for a while. You miss football. Now, I’m back fit and healthy – that’s the main thing – and everything else will come with the joy of playing.”

City produced a comprehensive display to clinch all three points in the first half at Tottenham, sailing to a 4-1 first half lead, picking off where we left off before the winter break.

As Cushing’s side look to challenge on all three domestic fronts, the triumph provided the perfect tonic to kick off the New Year and Bremer highlighted the importance of building momentum game by game.

“We’re taking each game as it comes,” she stated. “If you think too far ahead, you can get caught.

“It was important to get a win in the first game back after Christmas.

“These are the games in which you can struggle. Last year, in the game after Christmas, we drew. It can happen but we’re happy we didn’t draw this time.

“We hadn’t seen each other for a while and it was good to get three points. That was the main thing.

“We were really professional and we took the game into our hands. We were dominant.

“Of course, we’re playing for titles. We know that – playing for City, you always want to be at the top.

“Each game has to be won. It’s really good for momentum.

“We’re really looking forward to the next weeks.”
