City will play eight different teams in the new 36-club league format including two matches against sides from the same number one pot.
We will face Inter, Club Brugge, Feyenoord and Sparta Prague at the Etihad Stadium with Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, Sporting CP and Slovan Bratislava away.
The dates, order of fixtures and kick-off times for all League Phase matches will be confirmed on Saturday 31 August.
But City are certainly guaranteed some hugely appealing ties and Begiristain believes it will be a different test to the previous format.
“Before we had to study three opponents, now we have to think about eight,” the Director of Football said after the draw in Monaco.
“When you play four at home and four away, I’m thinking more about the away opponents than the ones at home.
“It’s important to see the calendar, how it affects us and the Premier League. It depends on what you have before or in the following game.
“For that we need a deeper squad. We have a balanced squad, deep enough to compete in many competitions.”
City will be competing in the Champions League for a 14th successive season.
Last season, we were the most-watched football club globally – the second year in a row we have held that position.
Much of that was down to our strong performance across multiple competitions, including the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, Premier League and FIFA Club World Cup.
Pep Guardiola’s side have made it to the knockout stages of the Champions League in each of his eight previous seasons at the Club.
But Begiristain says we don’t feel any extra pressure but said each of our opponents will provide a big test if we are to continue our proud record.
“We feel confident,” he said when asked about pressure. “We feel capable to be there.
“We did very well in the last few seasons but of course we respect everyone. The target is to get [to the last-16].”
