PEP GUARDIOLA PREVIEW
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the boss said that several players will be assessed following tomorrow’s training session before our clash with Bournemouth.
“Tomorrow you will know it,” he explained.
“You will see from the list. I have many doubts. Most of them half half, tomorrow you will know it.
“It is what it is. It happens to so many clubs. We are not the exception, we are not the only club in the world in modern football who have injuries.
“We have a lot in certain departments in certain positions but it is what it is.
“I’m pretty sure I said many times to the team guys try not to feel sorry for ourself it is what it is. The challenge is that and we are going to play with 11 players tomorrow.”
PREVIOUS MEETING
Phil Foden‘s first-half strike proved enough to give City a hard-fought 1-0 win against Bournemouth.
The Blues struck on 24 minutes after fine work by Erling Haaland, who saw his shot parried into Foden‘s path and the England star swept the ball home.
Though City dominated most of the first half, Bournemouth came on strongly after the break and had two chances cleared off the line.
The home side fought to the final whistle and would feel they should have perhaps earned a rare point against their jinx side who have now won all 14 Premier League meetings against them.
Last time out
Goals from Timo Werner and Pape Matar Sarr put the hosts in control in this Round Four encounter in the capital.
Matheus Nunes produced a fine finish in first half stoppage time, raising hopes of a comeback by Pep Guardiola’s Blues but we couldn’t find a leveller in the second period to force penalties.
Despite the disappointment of defeat, there was a proud moment for Youth Cup-winning captain Jahmai Simpson-Pusey who came on for his senior debut, joining fellow graduates Nico O’Reilly, James McAtee, Rico Lewis and Jacob Wright on the pitch in the second half.
