Phil Foden today makes his 200th appearance for City as one of three changes by Pep Guardiola for the game against Bournemouth.

The four-time Premier League title winner, still only 22, was an unused substitute against RB Leipzig on Wednesday but returns to the starting line-up this afternoon.

Guardiola spoke highly of the academy graduate in his pre-match press conference, calling him a ‘diamond’ and revealing he’s been struggling on and off since the World Cup with an ankle issue.

But he’s fit to come into the XI this afternoon for the game at the Vitality Stadium.

Foden comes in along with Rico Lewis and Julian Alvarez in place of Bernardo Silva, Kyle Walker and Riyad Mahrez.

Kevin De Bruyne, who missed the Leipzig game through illness, returns on the bench this afternoon.

“I saw many things I like about Bournemouth.

“The game against Wolves they got a good result.

“They got a good result and defeat at Brighton in last minute. They are so intense.

“They defend compact and try to play in different shapes. They link really well with Solanke. Billing has huge quality.

“This season, for all the clubs, all the games will be so tough. I don’t know why.”

PREVIOUS MEETING

Ilkay Gundogan scored his 50th goal for the Club, with Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden also on target before Jefferson Lerma turned into his own net as we ran out 4-0 winners in our first home game of the 2022/23 campaign back in August.

Our last trip to the Vitality Stadium in August 2019 saw Sergio Aguero bag two clinical goals either side of Raheem Sterling’s superb strike on the south coast.

LAST TIME OUT

We were held to a 1-1 draw by Nottingham Forest in our last league encounter last Saturday, and also drew 1-1 in midweek against RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League last-16 first leg in Germany.

As for the Cherries, they secured an impressive 1-0 away victory over Wolves last weekend.
