Pep Guardiola preview

Asked about Phil Foden, Erling Haaland and John Stones in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday, Pep Guardiola said: “Erling is not ready for tomorrow. The other two are ready.”

“It’s not a big issue but he’s not available,” he continued on Haaland.

On Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi, he said: “Admiration is growing every season. He has important players, we saw it.

“They lost Colwill, Mac Allister and they have a lot of injuries. The way they play they are always there. What he has done is an incredible job.”

PREVIOUS MEETING

In our last trip to the AMEX, the Premier League title was already secured in May 2023. We extended our unbeaten in all competitions to 25 matches with a 1-1 draw, thanks to a Phil Foden goal.

In the reverse fixture earlier this season, first half goals from Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland helped 10-man City return to action in winning style as we overcame Brighton 2-1 at the Etihad to regain top spot in the Premier League table.

The victory also saw us set another new Premier League record as it was our 21st consecutive win at the Etihad – beating the previous best run of 20 set by Manchester United.

LAST TIME OUT

Our last league encounter was our comfortable 5-1 victory over Luton Town in at the Etihad.

Since then, we’ve narrowly missed out on progressing into the Champions League semi-finals with a penalty shoot-out defeat to Real Madrid.

Last Saturday, we progressed into the FA Cup final with a 1-0 victory over Chelsea at Wembley Stadium, thanks to Bernardo Silva’s 84th minute winner.

As for Brighton, their last league fixture saw them secure a point away to Burnley in a 1-1 draw at Turf Moor.
