Team news

James McAtee is handed a first Premier League start for City as Pep Guardiola makes three changes for Saturday’s latest Premier League clash at home to Crystal Palace.

Academy graduate McAtee, along with Rico Lewis and Nico, all come into the starting eleven from the side that drew 0-0 at Manchester United last week.

Matheus Nunes and Bernardo both revert to the bench while Phil Foden, who also started at Old Trafford, is not fully fit and doesn’t feature in today’s matchday squad.

Teams

CITY XI: Ederson, Lewis, Dias, Gvardiol, O’Reilly, Nico, Kovacic, Gundogan, De Bruyne (C), McAtee, Marmoush

Subs: Ortega, Grealish, Doku, Bernardo, Reis, Savinho, Nunes, Khusanov, Bobb

CRYSTAL PALACE XI: Henderson, Munoz, Richards, Lacroix, Lerma, Mitchell, Wharton, Kamada, Sarr, Eze, Mateta

Subs: Matthews, Ward, Franca, Clyne, Hughes, Chilwell, Umeh, Devenny, Kporha

PEP GUARDIOLA PREVIEW

Pep Guardiola addressed the media on Friday afternoon where he was asked for a squad update ahead of Saturday’s early kick-off, specifically if any players who have been sidelined for a while could make a return this weekend.

He said: “[They are] still injured, yeah still injured we’ll see.

“[Injuries] happened all season, we adapt.

“You can see it as a problem or a challenge, the position is a disaster or it could be worse.

“I’m happy with the way we handled the situation and where we are.

“The challenge is to qualify in the Champions League next season, the home games, difficult ones we have and tomorrow we have a team in incredible  top form in the last month or two months.

“Always it’s difficult with Palace here, I admire a lot the manager (Oliver Glasner) and way they play, the talent and physicality there are no doubts. But we have to be optimistic to finish well this season.”

PREVIOUS MEETING

We last hosted Palace back in December 2023, where we were forced to settle for a point.

Michael Olise scored an injury time equaliser from the penalty spot after Phil Foden caught Jean-Philippe Mateta in the box.

Jack Grealish had fired City ahead in the first half before Rico Lewis added a second 10 minutes after the break.

But Mateta pulled one back with the Palace’s first attempt on goal before they snatched a point with a dramatic finish.

In the reverse fixture earlier this season, we also drew 2-2 at Selhurst Park, where goals from Erling Haaland and Rico Lewis saw 10-man City twice come from behind to earn a point.

      LAST TIME OUT

Our last Premier League encounter ended in a goalless draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

As for Palace, they defeated rivals Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1 last weekend thanks to goals from Mateta and Daniel Munoz at Selhurst Park.

The Eagles also ended the encounter with nine players, after red cards for Eddie Nketiah and Marc Guehi.
