Opposing manager - Marco Silva
The Portuguese manager started his life in football as a right-back, playing for a host of teams across his career, including a six-year spell at Estoril.
He then went on to manage the side for three seasons, before spending one year at Sporting CP, where he won the Portuguese Cup.
A move abroad to Olympiacos would follow, with Silva winning the Greek Super League in 2015/16, but a first taste of Premier League football would follow soon after with spells at Hull City, Watford and Everton.
Silva eventually joined a Fulham side who’d just been relegated to the Championship in July 2021 and, after leading them to 13 points out of a possible 15 to start the season, he won the Manager of the Month award for August.
During 2021/22 he guided the team to an immediate Premier League return, confirming the league title two weeks later after beating Luton Town 7–0 en route to an impressive 106 Championship goals.
The Cottagers finished an impressive tenth in their first season back in the top flight and, in the following campaign, Silva led his team to their first ever League Cup semi-final.
Fulham continue to develop into a side with genuine hopes of European qualification under Silva, surpassing their previous record points tally en route to an 11th-placed finish in 2024/25.
DANGER MEN
With a dangerous set piece delivery and ability to find the net from distance, Harry Wilson leads the team in goals scored (eight) and assists (four) in 23 appearances.
He is unsurprisingly followed by Raul Jimenez, who has recorded six goals in the same amount of games.
After Samuel Chukweze’s two goals against City last time out, we’re also no stranger to seeing how his ability to create and score goals will be one for us to keep an eye on.
There is also the possibility that former academy graduate Oscar Bobb will be involved for the Cottagers, with the 22-year-old moving to London in the January transfer window.
Pep Guardiola preview
The City boss will address the media on Tuesday 10 February from 12:30 (UK).
You can follow along live on mancity.com and our official app, with a full written recap available shortly after its conclusion.
Last time out
City come into the tie on the back of a dramatic late win at Anfield.
The Blues dominated large spells of the contest but it looked like Dominic Szoboszlai’s spectacular free-kick would consign us to a 1-0 defeat on Merseyside.
However, Bernardo Silva’s 84th-minute equaliser and a stoppage time penalty from Erling Haaland earned a famous victory for City, helping us complete the double over Liverpool for the first time in 89 years.
Much to the bemusement of the City players, Rayan Cherki saw a third goal ruled out for a foul on Haaland despite the ball finding the net, but we still moved back within six points of Premier League leaders Arsenal.
Previous meeting
A remarkable 5-4 victory at Fulham saw City move within two points of leaders Arsenal.
It was an unforgettable night for Erling Haaland who joined the Premier League 100 club.
The Norweigan’s brilliant 16th minute opener at Craven Cottage cemented him as the quickest player in Premier League history to achieve the feat, as the 25-year-old reached the three-figure mark in just 111 games.
Tijjani Reijnders and Phil Foden extended City’s lead before Emile Smith Rowe’s first half injury time header narrowed the deficit.
However, Foden struck again soon after the restart to claim a second successive brace with Jeremy Doku’s deflected strike off Sander Berge then making it five on 54 minutes.
With a score line of 5-1 it looked to be over, but football is unpredictable.
Instead Fulham roared back and served us one of the most remarkable Premier League games in years.
Alex Iwobi clawed a goal back for Fulham on 57 minutes before substitute Samuel Chuckwueze struck twice on 72 and 78 minutes to set up a frantic final half.
However, City held on, with Josko Gvardiol clearing off the line on 96 minutes to retain our victory.
