Stefan Ortega Moreno starts in goal, with Ederson on the bench.

Bernardo replaces Ilkay Gundogan, while there is a welcome return for Nathan Ake, in for Manuel Akanji.

FORMATION

There are two distinct possibilities formation-wise given the Blues’ starting XI.

One is that City will go 4-2-3-1 and the other is that we will play 4-4-2.

Given the latter is not a regular Pep Guardiola plan, it seems the former is more likely!

That would mean Walker and Ake as full-backs, Ruben Dias and John Stones in central defence with Rodrigo and Bernardo sitting as holding midfielders.

Jack Grealish, Riyad Mahrez and Julian Alvarez would then form an attacking trio behind Erling Haaland.

As always, it’s likely to be a fluid formation with players taking up a variety of positions as and when required.

We return to the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday 3 May, with the game scheduled for kick-off at 20:00 (UK).

Pep Guardiola preview

The boss says Nathan Ake could feature against West Ham United after recovering from a muscle injury.

The Dutch defender has returned to full training after missing the last three games with a thigh injury.

Kevin De Bruyne looks less likely to line-up against the Hammers having not trained with the squad ahead of Tuesday’s late afternoon session.

“Nathan trained yesterday and feels good,” said Guardiola in Tuesday’s pre-match press conference.

“Kevin’s started to move but didn’t train with the team - we have training in a few hours, and we’ll see how they feel.”

Previous meeting

It’s been a while since City and West Ham last went head-to-head, with the previous meeting being the opening game of the 2022/23 Premier League campaign.

Erling Haaland scored our first goal of the season from the penalty spot shortly before half-time.

The summer signing doubled City’s advantage on his Premier League debut after a sublime through ball by Kevin De Bruyne allowed him to slot the ball into the back of the net with his first touch.

Last time out

City went top of the Premier League table for the first time in two months after our 2-1 win over Fulham on Sunday afternoon.

Erling Haaland registered his 50^th goal of the season in all competitions after we were awarded a penalty two minutes into the game.

Carlos Vinicius, however, levelled the score in the 15^th minute with a fine effort against the run of play.

A stunning goal by World Cup winner Julian Alvarez in the 36^th minute was the defining factor between the two sides. The Argentinian curled the ball into the top left corner from just outside the box that left the travelling fans mesmerised.  

Meanwhile, David Moyes’ West Ham have struggled with form as of late, suffering a 4-3 loss to Crystal Palace and 2-1 loss to Liverpool in the past week.
