Once again producing excellent reflex saves and boasting outstanding distribution, the Brazilian showed why he’s regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in world football as well as being absolutely integral to Pep Guardiola’s entertaining style of play.

On the individual front, for the third season running, Ederson won the Premier League’s ‘Golden Glove’ award, handed out to the goalkeeper with most clean sheets in the top-flight each season.

He earned 16 in 2019/20, 19 in 2020/21 and 20 – alongside Alisson Becker of Liverpool – in 2021/22.

The Yashin Award was established in 2019, with Alisson winning in the first year and Paris St Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma in the third year, with the ceremony cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ederson previously finished third in that debut Yashin Trophy Year of 2019 and follows it up with third again this evening.

He said: “I am proud to be recognised in the Yashin Trophy as part of the Ballon d’Or ceremony.

“When I was a kid, I didn’t have the notion of what it was - a Ballon d’Or - because during those times, we used to play a lot in the streets and have fun.

“As time went by, I was gaining more knowledge. Rivaldo won, Ronaldo won, Kaká won. So that was when I knew the size and the importance of the Ballon d’Or.

“It’s an honour to finish third this year in the award for goalkeepers because the competition for both team and individual honours is always so strong. There are a lot of exceptional players.

“My focus now is on performing well on the pitch and having a good, successful season.”

Everyone at Manchester City congratulates Ederson on his latest achievement.
