Pep Guardiola says utilising his full squad and seeing all his players thrive is the best way to ensure his side are ready for any challenge as the season progresses.

City are in the midst of a run of five games in 14 days, with our next assignment coming on Tuesday away at FC Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League, followed by Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

Guardiola has heavily rotated in recent matches, with City’s dominance in games also allowing him to make substitutions early and keep all players involved.

And he says that’s just the way he likes it.

“Yes it is true, the last 25, 30 minutes when games are tight, that is when fatigue and risk for injuries rise,” he said.

“Lately we were lucky to score goals in the first half. Not to rest players or avoid fatigue, but because it’s good to play everyone and when we need them they will be ready.

“Every game is different. Players can handle 90 minutes. I like when everyone can help the team and play as best as possible and reach the best level. I like this.

“Now we have a weapon with more substitutions. That doesn’t mean you always use it. Sometimes I will use five, we will see.”

Meanwhile, the boss says FC Copenhagen’s pride will mean his team face a stern test on Tuesday at the Parken Stadium.

City brushed past the Danish champions a week ago at the Etihad Stadium, winning 5-0 and producing moments of pure brilliance.

It was about as dominant a performance as you will find in Europe’s elite knock-out competition.

And Guardiola says that makes Copenhagen dangerous ahead of the return fixture.

“I am pretty sure the players of Copenhagen have pride,” he said.

“We play one week later, and they have pride and they want to perform.

“But at the same time, we have a chance to conclude our qualification for the next stage and we are going to try tomorrow.

“As in every game, we will not underestimate them. The nature of the manager and the players they have.

“We will try to reach the later stages of the competition.

“Tomorrow will not be an exception. If it doesn’t happen, it will be because Copenhagen are at their best. In the Champions League, your chances are few and we have to use them.”
