Liverpool, the current champions, are top of the table, five points ahead of City having played a game extra.
It’s a vital fixture between the country’s two best teams and one with significant implications in the race for the title.
Torres says the City squad are fully aware of the game’s importance and believes we are well prepared for what should be a fantastic occasion.
“We know how big the game against Liverpool is,” he said. “But we are already working on it to try and get the win we need to compete for the Premier League.
“We already know what sort of team Liverpool are, there is no need to analyse them too much.
We also have a strong team, and we can win.
“We are preparing and we’re very much looking forward to the game.”
Torres joined City in the summer from Valencia, inheriting David Silva’s famous 21 shirt in the process.
The 20-year-old had already garnered a reputation as being one of Europe’s top prospects having made 97 appearances for Valencia, scoring nine goals and providing 12 assists.
He was expected to be eased into life at City, but his form has been exceptional and he has already played nine matches and scored four goals.

Torres admits he has settled quickly but says much of it is down to the help he has had from senior teammates.
“I knew that I would need some time to adapt, to get to know my teammates, a new team, a new city, a new country… But yes, it is true, I am settling pretty quickly,” he said.
“I’m working hard. Hopefully, it will continue like this.
“It is different here from Valencia. It is starting to rain more now, but they told me about that before coming here.
“Step by step I am settling and I have a new home as well.”
Torres has spent much of his professional career playing in wide areas, but in the absence of Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus has operated in a central striker’s role for the past three games.
He’s been a revelation, scoring twice and delivering three superb displays marked by his pace, movement and quick feet.
Guardiola has been impressed, with the manager now given an alternative option through the middle.
Torres admits it’s an unusual requirement for him but feels proud of his performances.
“It’s a bit different for me, I haven’t really played that much in that position,” he said.
“But I’ve felt very comfortable so far, thanks to my teammates, they have helped a lot to settled in that position.
“And I’ve also being lucky getting this many goals!”
