OPPOSING MANAGER -DANIEL FARKE

The German began his career with hometown club SV Steinhausen but went on to spend a majority of his playing days with SV Lippstadt, representing them in three different spells across his career.

After retiring, Farke remained with Lippstadt in a coaching role before also coaching Borussia Dortmund II.

However, Farke’s most significant role came in England with Norwich City from 2017 until 2021, winning the Championship title twice in that time for the Canaries.

Farke returned to his home country to take charge of Borussia Monchengladbach where he had one season, before returning to England in July 2023 to manage Leeds.

He lost in the Championship play-off final in his first season, before winning the league last season with 100 points and returning to the Premier League.

DANGER MEN

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has enjoyed a new lease of life since joining Leeds this past summer.

After establishing himself as one of the country’s most impressive strikers during nine years at Everton, Calvert-Lewin moved to Elland Road for a fresh challenge in August 2025.

And it’s certainly paid dividends with his 10 Premier League goals to date putting him joint-fifth in the top-flight standings behind only Joao Pedro of Chelsea, Igor Thiago of Brentford and City pair Antoine Semenyo and Erling Haaland.

The 28-year-old dragged Leeds back into the match after being 2-0 down to City in the reverse fixture at the Etihad in November 2025 and Lukas Nmecha gave the Whites hope only for Phil Foden to score the winner at the death.

And the Sheffield-born No.9, who has 11 England caps to his name, will look to fire his new team further away from the danger zone with a more positive result against Pep Guardiola’s men on Saturday.

Another player to watch is returning Anton Stach who bagged the Leeds goal in their impressive 1-1 draw with Aston Villa this past weekend.

The German defensive midfielder came back into the side for the Villa Park encounter after a spell on the sidelines with a rib issue and certainly impressed manager Daniel Farke with his performance.

The boss stressed post-match: “He is a key player for us. He has a perfect balance out of defensive skills, out of physical skills, of giving us the defensive edge, but also to inspire our offensive game.”

PREVIOUS MEETING

Phil Foden found the net twice to help City secure a 3-2 victory at the Etihad Stadium.

The Blues had seen a two-goal half-time lead erased as a rejuvenated Leeds fought back to make it 2-2 midway through the second half.

There had looked to be only one winner as goals from Foden and Josko Gvardiol gave the Blues a deserved advantage at the break.

But defensive errors led to Dominic Calvert-Lewin pulling one back just after the restart and Lukas Nmecha levelling despite Gianluigi Donnarumma initially saving his penalty on 68 minutes.

It looked to be heading for a point apiece until Foden took matters into his own hands, cutting into the box from the right before drilling home the winner into the bottom left corner to send a relieved Etihad wild.

LAST TIME OUT

Nico O’Reilly bagged a brace as City saw off a spirited Newcastle United 2-1 at the Etihad.

The 20-year-old opened the scoring with a 20-yard rocket before Lewis Hall levelled with a deflected strike.

But O’Reilly won it for the Blues shortly after when he headed powerfully home from an Erling Haaland teasing centre.
