Bernardo Silva was the match-winner as we beat Leicester City in an entertaining game at the King Power Stadium in September 2021.
The Portuguese midfielder scored the only goal of the game to give Pep Guardiola’s side a deserved victory from a hard-fought contest, smashing home from close range after Joao Cancelo’s shot deflected kindly into his path off Caglar Soyuncu.
It took City just over an hour to break the deadlock in the East Midlands, where Kasper Schmeichel was inspired form to prevent us from winning by an even greater margin.
The Dane made smart stops from Gabriel Jesus, Ferran Torres and Bernardo to keep his team in the game, though Brendan Rodgers’ men also saw several golden opportunities go begging.
Ederson made a crucial save from Harvey Barnes early on and the winger saw a header clip the top of the crossbar, whilst Jamie Vardy had a goal ruled out for offside after he raced clear of Ruben Dias and AymericLaporte and rounded Ederson.
GOALS THROUGH THE YEARS
Ahead of this afternoon’s Premier League trip to Leicester City, we reflect on some of our greatest goals at the King Power Stadium over the past few years.
They include efforts from Michael Tarnat, Frank Lampard, Aleksandar Kolarov and Kevin De Bruyne.
Erling Haaland‘s first-half double and Kevin de Bruyne‘s superb strike inspired City to a 3-1 Premier League victory over Brighton and Hove Albion at the Etihad Stadium last weekend.
The Foxes coasted to a 4-0 away victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in their last league encounter.
FORM GUIDE
We are currently second in the top-flight, with 26 points from 11 matches, sitting just two points off league-leaders Arsenal.
The Foxes are unbeaten in their last three league matches, winning twice and drawing once. They sit 17th with 11 points on the board.
