Former City striker Robbie Fowler has heaped praise on star forward Erling Haaland for his goalscoring talent and stressed: ‘I don’t think he will stop’.

Fowler certainly knows a thing or two about scoring goals, lying in eighth in the Premier League’s illustrious 100 Club, having bagged 163 from 1993 to 2008 during spells at Liverpool, Leeds, City and Blackburn.

Only Thierry Henry (175), Frank Lampard (177), Sergio Aguero (184), Andrew Cole (187), Wayne Rooney (208), Harry Kane (213) and Alan Shearer (260) have scored more.

As two of his former clubs – Liverpool, where he was nicknamed ‘God’, and City square off in a top-of-the-table clash this Sunday, the former fab forward lavished praise on Haaland, who has taken the top-flight by storm since arriving from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022.

Haaland helped City win the Treble and earned a host of individual accolades, including Premier League Golden Boot, European Golden Shoe, Premier League Player and Young Player of the Season, FWA Men’s Footballer of the Year as well as breaking the record for most Premier League goals in one season with 36 and most goals in all competitions by a player at a Premier League club with 52.

Fowler believes that’s just the start for Haaland.

“He’s been brilliant,” said the former City man.

“What a goalscorer. City have played with a false number nine in the past and then he’s come in and broken every record under the sun as a goalscorer.

“You can’t not enjoy watching him. He’s a special goalscorer and he will be special for a number of years.

“The records he has now are phenomenal.

“And the frightening thing is – I don’t think he will stop!

“He’s part of an amazing team, under an amazing manager. When you think of the calibre of players at City now, it’s extraordinary.”
