Pep Guardiola’s side conclude our tour of the US by locking horns with Chelsea following fixtures with Celtic, AC Milan and Barcelona in preparation for the 2024/25 campaign.

WHEN AND WHERE

City will face Enzo Maresca’s side at 22:30 (UK) on Saturday 3 August in Ohio.

The match will take place at Ohio Stadium in Columbus – an iconic 102,780 capacity arena.

On former City assistant and new Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca:

I am really pleased. We spent a special one year, but more when he was in the second team, he is an incredibly lovely person, him and his family. He did a really good job at Leicester. I wish him all the best because he deserves it. Nice people deserve the best. As a manager to have success, the most important thing is you must believe in something deeply, deeply. And no matter the results stick with my idea. That’s why he believes in what he does. He will have success - I don’t know how long, but he will have it. 

On Erling Haaland‘s fitness:

Much better. He told me today he woke up much better and hopefully tomorrow he will play a few minutes.

CHELSEA’S 2023/24

Chelsea recorded a sixth placed finish last season and qualified for the UEFA Europa Conference League by losing just two of their last 20 league matches.

In the cups, they reached the FA Cup semi-final before their defeat to City at Wembley and they narrowly missed out on League Cup glory in the showpiece at the national stadium.

Bernardo Silva’s late strike at Wembley helped City secure passage into the FA Cup final with a 1-0 victory over Chelsea the last time the sides locked horns.

The Portugal international smashed home a low strike on 84 minutes following an inviting Kevin De Bruyne cross to book our place in the competition’s showpiece for a second straight season.
