Pep Guardiola Preview

The City boss gave an injury update on Erling Haaland with the striker expecting to be out of action between five and seven weeks.

“Hopefully for the end of season and FIFA Club World Cup he will be ready.

“All injuries that happen all season I am sorry for them and I am sorry for Erling too. As quick a recovery as possible to come back.

“We don’t have another player with his skills or specific qualities we know that but we have to adapt.

“Erling’s numbers again have been exceptional and is an incredible threat for many things with long balls and his sense of goal but we have to adjust.”

      Previous meeting

The last time we met was when City travelled to Leicester in the Premier League in December.

Goals from Savinho and Erling Haaland confirmed a 2-0 win for the Blues.

Savinho put us ahead on the 21 minute mark after a delightful string of passes between Kevin De Bruyne, Rico Lewis and Phil Foden - resulting in a 25 yard strike from our number 26.

Despite the Foxes threatening for an equaliser, Haaland sealed their fate with a rocketing header after 74 minutes.

The triumph ended a run of eight away games without a win, as well as a run of five matches without victory.

It was a perfect end to 2024 and no better way to mark Guardiola‘s 500th game in charge of the Club.

      last tIME OUT

City cemented their place in the FA Cup semi-final with a 2-1 win over Bournemouth at the weekend.

Two second-half strikes saw us come from behind as we extended our record run of semi-final appearances in a row to seven.

Our last Premier League game saw City held to a 2-2 draw by Brighton at the Etihad Stadium despite twice taking the lead.

Erling Haaland converted from the spot before Omar Marmoush launched a low shot in off the post from 22 yards out.
