Who gets your vote from our September Etihad Player of the Month nominees?

The second month of the 2023/24 campaign saw City record three fine Premier League wins against Fulham, West Ham and Nottingham Forest to cement our hold on top spot in the table.

Pep Guardiola’s side also began our defence of the Champions League crown in impressive fashion, recording an excellent 3-1 victory over Red Star Belgrade in our opening group match.

And though the month ended with narrow losses away to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup and Wolves in the league, there have been no shortage of impressive performances.

For September’s vote, the choice has been narrowed down to the trio of Kyle Walker, goalkeeper Ederson and striker Julian Alvarez.

Kyle Walker

Having cemented his future to City by signing a new two-year extension, the experienced England full-back has been at his dominant best.

His standing at the Club was further amplified by his election onto City’s five-strong leadership group by his fellow players.

And on the field, Walker proved a pivotal figure throughout September.

A reassuring figure at the back where his anticipation and reading of the game is second to none, Walker’s electric pace and eye for an opportunity when marauding forward meanwhile has again providing an extra attacking outlet for the champions.

At 33, Walker brings more than a decade of big game experience to bear and September again illustrated his crucial importance to the City cause.

Ederson

Our Brazilian goalkeeper again proved a dominant and crucial last line of defence for Guardiola’s side across September.

Ederson it was who produced a superb display in our 3-1 win away at West Ham, making two vital blocks to deny Michail Antonio and Kurt Zouma when the score was tied at 1-1.

The City keeper also demonstrated his focus and all-round excellence in denying Nottingham Forest when the visitors sought to stage a late rally with City down to 10 men in our recent 2-0 Etihad triumph.

With his superb distribution and kicking ability also once more providing an extra layer of attacking armoury, now in his seventh season at the Club, Ederson continues to set the standards for every other keeper in the Premier League.

Julian  Alvarez

Our Argentine World Cup winner has made a superb individual start to the 2023/24 campaign and September saw La Araña at his incisive, predatory best.

Alvarez opened up the month by putting City in front during our 5-1 victory against Fulham at the start of September, with the Argentine also brought down later in the game to earn City a penalty subsequently converted by Erling Haaland.

And Alvarez then followed that up by claiming a crucial brace of goals to help City come from behind to overcome Red Star Belgrade 3-1 at the Etihad in our opening Champions League group game.

Julian has also again demonstrated his prowess at set pieces, striking the bar with a brilliant free-kick in our 3-1 triumph at West Ham and then converting a quite stunning set-piece delivery into the top left corner in last weekend’s 2-1 loss at Wolves.

Further proof, if any were needed, that Alvarez continues to go from strength to strength.

Three worthy contenders then – but who gets your winning vote?

The poll is open now and we will announce the winner next week.
