Jack Grealish says he was “buzzing” to be able to dedicate his first World Cup goal celebration to a young City fan.

After 11-year-old supporter Finlay wrote a letter to his favourite City player, the pair met at the CFA and after sharing a hug, Grealish let him choose his next goal celebration.

And the City star was all smiles as he delivered on his promise after adding the sixth goal in England’s 6-2 victory over Senegal.

“I said to him the next time I score I will do the celebration for you,” Grealish said. “I don’t know if he’d rate my dance moves because I’ll be honest, I ain’t the best dancer unless it’s later on in the night!

“I had to do it and I’ll think he’ll be buzzing at home that it happened in a World Cup instead of the Premier League.”

Finlay, like Grealish’s sister Holly, has cerebral palsy and he wrote that he was hugely impressed by the way he involves her in everything he does.

Holly and their family are in Qatar and were at the Khalifa International Stadium as Grealish made his World Cup debut.

He was a second-half substitute along with City team-mate Phil Foden and said it was a dream to score in a World Cup.

“My little sister was here in the stands and I’ve seen her and given her a hug,” he added.

“All my family are buzzing and it’s nice to have them here and to score a World Cup goal is something that you dream of when you’re a little kid, so to do that today was unbelievable.

“I don’t think it’s really kicked in yet and I don’t think it will until later on.”

It was a perfect opener for England, who started with City’s John Stones in the centre of defence, as Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka (2), Raheem Sterling and Marcus Rashford were all on the scoresheet in a comfortable win.

Kyle Walker and Kalvin Phillips were also named on the subs bench for the game but didn’t see any action.

England’s next game is this Friday as they face USA at Al Bayt Stadium, kick-off 19:00 (UK).
