OPPOSING MANAGER – Adi Hutter
Hutter enjoyed a successful playing career as he made over 500 professional appearances and won the Austrian Championship three times with Austria Salzberg and won the Austrian Cup with Grazer AK.
The Austrian reached the 1993/94 UEFA Cup final, where Salzburg lost 0-2 on aggregate to Inter Milan.
He also featured for the Austria national team, recording 14 appearances and scoring three goals.
After his playing career ended in 2007, Hutter became assistant coach of Red Bull Salzberg Juniors, before being names as head coach of SCR Altach in 2009.
He later joined Red Bull Salzburg for the 2014/15 season and lead them to the double which consisted of the league title and the Austria Cup.
Hutter also saw stints at Young Boys, Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Mönchengladbach before landing at Monaco in July 2023.
He guided the club to a runner-up finish in the 2023/24 campaign, and qualification to the Champions League group stage for the first time since 2018/19.
DANGER MEN
Summer arrival Ansu Fati, who is currently on loan from Barcelona, has made a bright start to life in Monaco.
The winger scored on his Champions League debut and recorded Les Rouges et Blanc’s only goal of the game. The 22-year-old then followed this performance with a brace against Metz in Ligue 1.
Like City, Monaco’s academy also continue to produce top-talent, with Maghnes Akilouche emerging as a key player in midfield.
Finally, in defence we may see a familiar name in Eric Dier, who joined from Bayern Munich in the summer.
PREVIOUS MEETING
We have only ever faced Monaco twice before, during the 2016/17 Champions League campaign.
First on 21 February that saw us come out on top as 5-3 winners, then 15 March as we were beaten 3-1.
Our victory at the Etihad saw goals from Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero, John Stones and Leroy Sane.
This was followed by a consolation goal by Sane in the return fixture at Stade Lois II.
LAST TIME OUT
City faced Burnley in the Premier League as we came away 5-1 victors.
After a testing first half that saw us enter half-time level thanks to an own goal from Maxime Esteve and a Jaidon Anthony equaliser.
The Clarets continued to push the Blues int he second 45, but it didn’t last long as Matheus Nunes put us ahead, which was soon followed by a second Esteve own goal.
Erling Haaland sealed Burnley’s fate with two goals in the space of three minutes as he became the most prolific Norwegian player to grace the Premier League.
