Pep Guardiola says that winning games is the best way for his City players to stay refreshed.

City face a hectic schedule as we battle for three trophies, starting on Saturday with the Premier League clash with Leeds United at 15:00 (UK).

With two games a week during May, Guardiola says the timetable is tough on his players and he has advised them to get plenty of rest and to eat and drink well.

But after 14 victories from our last 15 matches, he added that winning games is a great way to deal with the feeling of fatigue.

“[Playing games every] three days is so demanding,” Guardiola said. “It’s normal, how we felt yesterday is normal.

“I’m pretty sure that today they feel better and hopefully tomorrow at 3pm we will be better but its normal.

“The fact we are winning games and winning games - that helps a lot for regeneration. Maybe more than to eat sleep and drink, it’s better to win games. That’s a better regeneration for the next game.”

Despite the testing schedule, Guardiola says now is the time for his players to give everything on the pitch with the chance of winning a third successive Premier League title as well as our challenge for the FA Cup and Champions League.

“It’s not the time to keep something in the fridge,” he added. “We have to give everything, it’s so close - not close to winning the Premier League, close to the end of the season.

“We have one game in hand and we have tough games - we saw Brighton [beat Manchester United] and we have to go there for our game in hand. I was really impressed again with how they play against top-four opponents.”

City have been in particularly strong form at the Etihad Stadium, winning each of our 14 home matches in all competitions this year.

Guardiola says they feel a special ‘vibe’ at home and called on the fans to help his side once again to victory against a Leeds team that is equally desperate for points.

“Our vibe is confident,” he added. “We feel confident and have a vibe in front our fans.

“They are more active than in previous seasons and they are there. And we need them more and more in the last two [Premier League] games. I have that feeling.”
