Six Manchester City players have been nominated for the 2021/22 Ballon d'Or award, while Ederson is shortlisted for the Yashin Trophy.

Joao Cancelo, Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland, Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez and Bernardo Silva are all in contention for the main honour.

Ederson will be hoping to take home the prize specifically for goalkeepers, which was first established in 2019.

The winner of both prestigious awards, as well as the Kopa Trophy (for the best player under 21), will be announced by France Football in Paris on 17 October.

This is the first season that the Ballon d’Or has been decided based on achievements over the course of a season rather than displays across a calendar year.

Season Review: 2021/22
