PEP GUARDIOLA PREVIEW
“In the last six years we play every competition like it is the last game of our lives.
“We respect the FA Cup a lot. It’s great. We know how difficult it will be away at Southampton.
“I trust my team a lot. The manager trusts his players a lot, to try and be who we are in every competition.
“We will try to do it. I want to do it with these guys. We will try.”
LAST TIME OUT
City and Crystal Palace fought out a goalless draw in an action-packed Premier League clash at Selhurst Park.
The reigning champions did everything but score in south London with both Joao Cancelo and Kevin De Bruyne hitting the post and City carving out a host of excellent opportunities.
PREVIOUS MEETING
It’s a second visit to the St Mary’s Stadium in two months for City.
The points were shared when we travelled to Southampton for a Premier League clash in January with the game ending 1-1.
Southampton took an early lead when Kyle Walker-Peters truck after just seven minutes before Aymeric Laporte headed home a second half leveller.
FORM GUIDE
City are unbeaten in our last five matches, and have avoided defeat in each of our last ten away fixtures in all competitions.
Guardiola’s men currently sit top of the Premier League table, four points clear of second-placed Liverpool and are also through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
After a fine run of form through January and February, Ralph Hassenhuttl’s side wil go into Sunday’s game on the back of three straight Premier League losses since their FA Cup fifth round win over West Ham.
A 2-1 loss at home to Watford last weekend was preceded by a 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle and a 4-0 reverse away at Aston Villa with the Saints currently in 10th place in the table.
