PEP GUARDIOLA PREVIEW
On the fitness of the squad Guardiola said: “Rodri is much better. (Mateo) Kovacic as well. Phil (Foden) still doesn’t feel good. The rest are OK.”
When speaking on West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui he added: “New managers at new places always needs time - he is experienced. At Real Madrid, the national team at Spain, Sevilla is so demanding.
“He has lots of experience and is an unbelievable person. West Ham already had a really good squad and this summer they brought in new top players.
“Especially upfront they have incredible weapons - they are a really strong team.”
Teams
City make one change for Saturday’s Premier League trip to West Ham with Jack Grealish coming into the line-up for his first Premier League start of the season.
From the side that began last Saturday’s 4-1 home win over Ipswich, Savinho sits out today’s clash.
Manuel Akajni is amongst the starting eleven for what will be his 100th appearance since joining City in 2022.
Rodrigo is named amongst the substitutes as the Spaniard comes into Pep Guardiola’s matchday squad for the first time this season.
Phil Foden is again unavailable as he recovers from a bout of illness.
Teams
WEST HAM: Areola, Wan-Bissaka, Mavropanos, Kilman, Emerson, Rodríguez, Álvarez, Paquetá, Bowen ©, Kudus, Antonio
Subs: Fabiański (GK), Casey, Todibo, Coufal, Souček, Irving, Guilherme, Summerville, Füllkrug
CITY XI: Ederson, Lewis, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol, Kovacic, De Bruyne (C), Bernardo, Doku, Grealish, Haaland

PREVIOUS MEETING
Our last encounter with West Ham was on the final day of the 2023/24 Premier League season.
City needed three points to seal an unprecedented fourth straight men’s English top-flight title and we took the lead early through Phil Foden before winning 3-1 to create history.
LAST TIME OUT
Erling Haaland struck his 10th hat-trick for City as we came from behind to beat Ipswich 3-1 last time out.
The Tractor Boys took the lead on seven minutes before the Norwegian hit two, sandwiched by Kevin De Bruyne’s calm finish, to help us quickly overturn the shock lead for the visitors.
Haaland put the icing on the cake with a delightful drilled finish late on to bring up 23 career hat-tricks.
