Gareth Taylor preview

“Everything’s fine in that sense. It was a fantastic result for us the other night, everyone contributed well,” he said.

“The signs in pre-season have been really good. To start in that manner the way we did [against Paris FC] was super impressive from the girls, particularly the way we went about our business.

“I think a lot of people would’ve looked at that game beforehand and thought it would be a tough game and we don’t want to downplay that.

“They’re a good team, there’s no doubt about that but the way the girls attacked the game and dismantled them at times was the really impressive thing.

“I’ve always said the tie’s not over, we’re only at the halfway point and have to earn the right in the second game but what it has done is set us up nicely to go into Sunday with confidence and look to and produce a similar result.”

Last time out

City took a huge step towards qualification for the UEFA Champions League group stages with a 5-0 first leg win over Paris FC.

A debut goal for Vivianne Miedema, Jess Park brace and further strikes from Mary Fowler and Chloe Kelly mean we take a healthy advantage back to the Joie Stadium for next Thursday’s second leg qualifier.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are aiming to overturn a 1-0 defeat to BK Hacken when they host the Swedes next week.

Previous meeting

A late double from Stina Blackstenius earned Arsenal a 2-1 win over City in our most recent encounter at the Joie Stadium back in May 2024.

Lauren Hemp‘s first half effort had given the hosts the lead and Gareth Taylor‘s side were seemingly on course to take a three-point advantage into the final day title battle with Chelsea.

However, Blackstenius’ intervention turned the game on its head, in what was City legend Steph Houghton’s final home match before retirement.
