Team news: taylor preview

“The spirit has been good. They’re ready for this game.

“We are really good. We have had a good couple of weeks since the previous game.

“Our levels are really good and we are super focused on what we have to do.”

“Everybody’s cool, really good. Obviously apart from the ones we were missing previously.

“We have prepared exactly the same as we would [for any other game].

“Our objective is to try and score as many as we can and concede as few as we can.”

WHEN AND WHERE

Gareth Taylor’s final assignment in 2023/24 is a trip to Aston Villa on Saturday 18 May for a 15:00 (UK) start.

It could be a magical day at Villa Park with three points potentially being enough to secure our second-ever league title.

As ever, the Official Man City App will provide comprehensive coverage of proceedings and live updates will be posted on X: @ManCityWomen.

MAN CITY APP COVERAGE

Our official app will have all bases in Birmingham covered on Saturday.

Starting 90 minutes before kick-off, our Matchday Centre will provide blow-by-blow updates and Matchday Live will begin at 14:00 (UK) as team news lands.

Tash Harding is a special guest on the broadcast, joining Natalie Pike in the studio while FG and Karen Bardsley are pitch side at Villa Park.

Live audio commentary will also be provided, and those with push notifications turned on can be alerted to all the key bits of the action as they unfold.

A comprehensive match report, plus reaction from Taylor and members of his squad will be published on mancity.com and our official app shortly after the final whistle.

Short and extended highlights, as well as a CITY+ full-match replay will be made available at 12:00 (UK) on Sunday 19 May.

LAST TIME OUT

We suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in our last outing.

In what was our final match at the Joie Stadium in 2023/24, Lauren Hemp’s vicious first-half strike broke the deadlock.

But two late goals from the Gunners’ Stina Blackstenius flipped the match on its head and handed the visitors three points.

PREVIOUS MEETING

A Lauren Hemp brace saw City come from a goal down at the Joie Stadium to win 2-1 the last time we locked horns with the Villans.

Danielle Turner gave Carla Ward’s side the lead inside seven minutes, but quickfire second-half goals from the England international helped us to victory.
