GARETH TAYLOR PREVIEW
On the fitness of the squad, Taylor said:
“We’re probably as we were. Hayley and Alanna are slightly closer. Hayley was back on the pitch today.
“I don’t think once she’s given the all clear with her fracture that she’ll be able to drop straight back in to full contact. Good to see them out on the pitch today.
“Alanna joined out on the pitch with us and in the practice and pretty much did most of the session so, again, is another player who is really close.
“The players are looking fit and healthy at the moment and really sharp.”
FORM GUIDE
City enter the tie in scintillating form, having gone unbeaten in each of our last 12 WSL matches.
Gareth Taylor‘s side currently sit just three points off the league summit, having last tasted defeat in September.
Brighton, meanwhile, are searching for a first WSL victory since November.
The Seagulls currently sit 11th in the table, two points above the relegation zone.
LAST TIME OUT
A Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw hat-trick earned City a hard-fought 3-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur at the Academy Stadium.
The Jamaican pounced on the stroke of half-time to pull Gareth Taylor‘s side level after the visitors had taken the lead against the run of play.
And she would complete the turnaround with another two strikes after the break, taking her tally for the season to 24 goals in all competitions.
PREVIOUS MEETING
First half strikes from Julie Blakstad and Laura Coombs, as well as an own goal from Veatriki Sarri, set the tone for a dominant display at the Academy Stadium that helped City to an eighth-straight victory in the reverse fixture in December 2022.
The only addition to the scoreline after the break came from the visitors when Lee Geum-Min scrambled a stoppage time consolation over the line.
