Caroline Weir’s stunning derby strike against Manchester United has been nominated for February’s FA WSL Goal of the Month.

The City and Scotland midfielder struck a magnificent 25-yard chip over Mary Earps to secure a vital 1-0 win in front of a sell-out Academy Stadium crowd.

Having come on as a second half substitute, Weir’s strike saw her maintain her record of scoring memorable derby goals against United following similarly spectacular efforts in last year’s home encounter and our 2019 meeting at the Etihad.

However, City boss Gareth Taylor described Weir’s latest effort as the best yet.

You can watch her goal from every angle in our video below…

Weir is one of six contenders up for February’s award.

She lines up alongside: Stina Blackstenius (Arsenal v Manchester United), Kyah Simon (Tottenhham v Brighton), Ashleigh Neville (Tottenham v Brighton), Kayleigh Green (Brighton v Reading) and Emily Gielnik (Everton v Aston Villa)
