The Norway international broke the deadlock at Walton Hall Park by rolling Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw’s pass across the box into an empty net.
It was no less than what City deserved after the forward had come close with two efforts shortly before.
Her strike on Merseyside was her first in the WSL this season, as she operated slightly further up the pitch against the Toffees.
Such a role is somewhere the 21-year-old clearly enjoys.
And she’s aiming to build on her performance from Saturday afternoon.
“It’s always fun to score goals. Especially when I had a chance at the start from a really good ball from Bunny. It was fun to get a goal,” she said.
“As I’ve mentioned before, I like to contribute high up in the pitch and scoring goals is always fun. It was a great ball from Bunny and I’d like to thank her for that one. I’m really happy.
“I actually spoke to Ras [Hayley Raso] about it after the game that it’s even worse when you have time to think. ‘Don’t miss don’t miss don’t miss’! So it’s hard sometimes but it was a good feeling to see the ball go into the goal.
The exhilarating success against Everton extended our winning streak to six games - and applies pressure to the teams in the top three of the WSL table.
But Blakstad explained how we must maintain the performance levels from our past six outings.
“Of course [it’s a great start after the break], we had only two days after the international break and it’s busy with people coming back after long travels,” she explained
“So it was important we got the three points today. We have to keep going.
“Yeah I think we could have scored more. Especially in the first half where we played really well.
“The game was a bit more open in the second half. Everton created some big chances as well, so I think we have to control more of the game a bit more, but I’m really happy with the win today.”
