GARETH TAYLOR PREVIEW
The boss addressed the media on Wednesday afternoon and was asked for his thoughts on our opponents, Chelsea, following our recent league win over them.
“They will bottle up the pain of the result when we went there and that is natural,” began Taylor.
“But we need to control what we can control, we always focus on ourselves.
“Expecting it to be a tough challenge - a semi-final will always be tight. When you are in the final four the margins usually aren’t big, but that’s when we have shown ourselves to be the best versions of ourselves.
“Using the run we have been on, the confidence, the home support - all of that will be key for us.”
LAST TIME OUT
City reached the last-four of the Continental Cup with a hard fought 1-0 win over Spurs at Brisbane Road with Yui Hasegawa’s piledriver enough to secure passage.
In our previous outing, goals from Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw and Lauren Hemp helped us to a 2-1 win over Everton in the Barclays Women’s Super League at the Joie Stadium.
PREVIOUS MEETING
In our previous meeting with Chelsea, Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw’s goal helped us to a 1-0 win which ended the hosts’ 33 match unbeaten run at Kingsmeadow.
The victory moved us to level on points with the league leading Londoners ahead of the final eight WSL matches of 2023/24.
