GARETH TAYLOR PREVIEW

The boss revealed that the fixture would likely come too soon for defensive duo Esme Morgan and Demi Stokes to make their return from injury, but has been pleased with their recovery progress so far.

Those absentees aside, Taylor revealed he has a full squad at his disposal ahead of our clash with the Blades.

FORM GUIDE

City enter the Round Four clash sitting in fourth place in the Barclays Women’s Super League and currently unbeaten in our previous 14 matches in all competitions – a run stretching back to September 2022.

This has placed us firmly in the hunt for a UEFA Women’s Champions League place next term, while reaching the semi-finals of the Continental Cup.

Meanwhile, Sheffield United are currently 11th in the Women’s Championship but drew 1-1 with Blackburn Rovers last time out.

Luke Turner’s side reached Round Four following an impressive 3-0 success over Nottingham Forest.

Goals from Courtney Sweetman-Kirk, Bex Rayner and Mia Enderby sealed their progression.

LAST TIME OUT

City booked our place into the last-eight of the Conti Cup with a superb 6-0 victory over Bristol City last time out.

A clinical Hayley Raso brace inside 12 minutes gave us a commanding lead before Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw extended our lead further on 30 minutes with a powerful header into the net.

Lauren Hemp then bagged against her former club by curling home an exquisite effort from a tight angle before Mary Fowley added the gloss to our first half performance by scoring her fourth in the competition so far.

We began the second 45 in similar fashion to our display before the interval and Hemp doubled her personal tally at Ashton Gate to round off the scoring on 60 minutes.

PREVIOUS MEETING

A Pauline Bremer hat-trick alongside a Laura Coombs strike was enough to seal our place in the Conti Cup semi-finals last time City faced the Blades, in January 2020.

2021/22 FA CUP

We suffered heartbreak in the FA Cup final as we lost 3-2 to Chelsea in extra-time at Wembley Stadium last season following a formidable run to the showpiece event.

Taylor’s side opened our campaign with an 8-0 thrashing of Nottingham Forest before defeating rivals Manchester United 4-1 in Round Five.

City then advanced through the quarter-finals and semi-finals with ease as we swept past Everton (4-0) and West Ham United (4-1)

And despite a strong display in the capital, we had to settle for runners-up medals.
