City welcome Liverpool to the Academy Stadium on Sunday 30 October, with kick-off is scheduled at the Academy Stadium for 14:00 (UK).

“Matt’s [Beard] got a wealth of experience, he’s really knowledgeable and has had success previously.

“He did well getting them back up to the WSL, where they rightly belong as a team. They’re hardworking and brave in what they do.

“We’re expecting a tough test, we played them in pre-season and we’ve seen what they can do earlier on against Chelsea.

“It’s a tough opponent for us but I always put it back to what we do.

“If we look after ourselves and what we’re trying to do we’ll come out hopefully on the right side of the result.”

Our first band are The Kaves, who will be performing live in front of Heart of the City before the game and at half-time.

Previous meeting

City cruised to a 3-0 Conti Cup group stage victory in our most recent competitive meeting with Liverpool in November 2020.

A stunning Laura Coombs touch and finish opened the scoring, with second half goals from Rose Lavelle and Jess Park securing the points.

The two sides met in the WSL last met in the WSL in December 2019, with a Gemma Bonner strike enough to earn City a 1-0 victory.

Last time out

City started our defence of the Continental Cup in perfect fashion with a 6-0 win over Blackburn Rovers at the Academy Stadium.

A brace apiece from Mary Fowler and Julie Blakstd, as well as further strikes from Hayley Raso and Vicky Losada, set the seal on a dominant display.

The victory also saw five members of the squad make their senior debuts, with Sandy MacIver, Annie Hutchings, Gracie Prior, Lois Marley-Paraskevas and Emma Siddall all making their bows for the Club.
