Nick Cushing Preview

On the challenge of facing United, Cushing said: “We’re excited for the game, but we know the magnitude of the game.

“We were disappointed in the FA Cup game and we know we lost the game at the Etihad, but we’re keen to put in a performance that our fans can be proud of.

“They’re a good team and the last few games haven’t gone our way so we know we have to make sure we’re at our best on Sunday.”

The Interim Head Coach also provided a squad update ahead of our trip to Old Trafford. He said: “[Lauren and Alex] have been back in as normal.

“It’s been nice to get Laura and Aoba in training this week so that for the group has been a big lift.”

When asked if Wienroither and Fujino could feature against United, Cushing said: “I wouldn’t have anyone in training who isn’t ready to be in the squad.

“They are training so in contention. They have to be assessed by the medical team.

“We’ve trained hard and aggressively this week. So it’s positive they’ve been in training.”

Last time out

We travelled to the East Midlands as we faced Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

Jess Park scored the only goal in our Barclays Women’s Super League clash with the Foxes as we came away with all three points.

It also saw the long-awaited return of Lauren Hemp and Alex Greenwood.

We hosted the Red Devils in the FA Cup semi-final earlier this month as we suffered a 2-0 defeat.

The visitors broke the deadlock through Celine Bizet’s effort before Grace Clinton doubled the lead when she headed home from a corner.
